Many people only associate orthodontics with teenage braces. Over 200,000 children and teenagers in England and Wales have orthodontic treatment within the NHS every year. However, an increasing number of people are also seeking private treatment in order to straighten their teeth.
The sensation of feeling self-conscious about your teeth is not just confined to teenage years. Some people missed out on having their teeth straightened as youngsters and have always regretted it. Even those who had braces years ago may be unhappy with the results now. Often they feel they would give anything for straighter teeth and a more confident smile.
The good news is that orthodontics has evolved and improved immeasurably. There is a range of different products available, depending on your individual needs, whether your teeth are sticking out, too tightly crowded or too widely spaced.
One orthodontics option is Invisalign, which performs the same function as what we think of as ‘conventional’ braces. Cleverly designed using clear plastic aligners rather than traditional metal ‘train tracks’, it is far more discreet. Similarly, InVu braces, as the name suggests, are hardly noticeable against your teeth, being made from white ceramics. Another unobtrusive product, the fast-working Inman Aligner, covers the teeth using transparent acrylic so it can hardly be seen.

Other treatments, such as the Six Month Smile, works quickly to create a big impression of straighter teeth while actually only making very small physical adjustments to them. Remember that a strong and effective oral healthcare regime needs to be evident, before the dentist will commence treatment.
