Q. My teeth have always been yellow. Will the whitening process work?
A. Because the whitening process goes inside the tooth, people born with yellow teeth can benefit from bleaching.

Q. What do I need to do first to see if whitening will work for me?
A. Get an examination and x-ray of any discoloured teeth to make certain they are not abscessed or have decay.

Q. Will whitening work on white fillings and crowns?
A. White fillings and crowns will not change colour with bleaching and may have to be replaced to match the whitened teeth. Click here for more information about Revive Refine treatments which includes crown and filling replacements.

Q. Which whitening procedure should I have?
A. Different patients need different treatments, it is best to book an appointment with a dentist to find out which treatment would suit you. To learn more about our three teeth whitening programs, click here.

Q. How do I know if I need whitening?
A. One way of assessing the whiteness of your teeth is to see how closely they match the whites of your eyes — this would be the most natural colour for you. Once started on whitening treatment, patients are often advised to gauge their progress by the difference in hue between their teeth and their eyes.

Q. My teeth have become yellow as I got older. Will whitening work?
A. The discoloration of your teeth from aging is a combination of factors including enamel wearing away, staining over the years and the formation of dentine inside the tooth. Patients whose teeth have become yellowed with age are excellent candidates for the whitening process, often providing superb results.

Q. I took tetracycline for ear infections when I was a child, and my teeth are dark and gray. Will whitening work for me?
A. The toughest stain to whiten is tetracycline. The treatment takes much longer to complete, over months rather than weeks, but with daily treatments improved results can be achieved. Teeth effected in this way will usually become a lighter shade rather than full whiteness.

Q. I used to be a smoker. Can I erase the stains from nicotine?
A. Nicotine is a stubborn stain, but will generally bleach out in 1-3 months of treatment. From a health standpoint, it is a great plan to stop smoking, and it keeps your teeth from re-staining.
